Once again referencing an earlier post, my children did not go to school on Tuesday. We had several reasons for keeping them out of school, but among them was Obama's speech to students.
Of course, many people were saying, "What's wrong with the President telling kids to stay in school?"
Nothing wrong with that, I guess. He could do this in a commercial. I just don't like certain so-called authority figures (doctors, politicians, religious leaders) having access to my children without me being there, and without my permission. Yes, I even attended every Boy Scout meeting, and carefully look over every thing our kids bring home from school.
Now don't quote me, but apparantly (from news that I heard yesterday), he had an after-the-speech question-and-answer session with the middle-schoolers that Mr. Obama gave his speech in front of. Of course, you and I both know that the questions were written ahead of time...kids would probably be asking what he watched on television, or what music he listened to. Instead, they were asking him leading questions about health care here in the United States.
If this news is true, then yes...it was a political ambush, designed to target our children rather than encourage them to stay in school. And I am glad, whether or not our teachers showed this, that I kept my children home. The teenager and I had a very nice discussion about the Constitution, and our younger school-age child listened as much as his attention span would allow him to. I don't care if it takes a village to raise a child or not...I don't want my kids being raised by someone whose values I disagree with.
Be sure and visit our sponsers...unless, of course, its the one that's asking you to "sign up and help Obama" (which popped up after I first hit the "publish" button). Google can throw that ad in the trash.
