Urban Survival Gardening Part I

  1. Regarding tubs for the apartment dwellers, I have a couple of recommendations. First, drainage holes should be drilled into the bottom and lower part of the sides around the tub. It's easy to get too much water otherwise because things may not dry out well without drainage. That means putting the tubs on the lids or some other solid surface where the water can run out without ruining counters, floor, etc. Next, I suggest using shop lights with fluorescent bulbs down close to the soil for a few hours each day because there may not be adequate light otherwise. I know I'm commenting on a post that's a few days old as I write, so forgive me for any redundancy if you've already addressed these matters.
